[8] Caroline Garcia (FRA) vs. [17] Madison Keys (USA) – Keys will need to be sharp to win this match, but I think the match is on her racquet as her winner to unforced errors ratio will determine the winner.  That makes Keys a slight favorite.

[21] Angelique Kerber (GER) vs. Su-Wei Hsieh (TPE) – Kerber appears to be recovering her 2016 form, but it is not a given that she has finished finding that form yet.

[6] Karolina Pliskova (CZE) vs. [20] Barbora Strycova (CZE) – Pliskova was #1 for a decent portion of 2017 and is flying under the radar here(?).

[1] Simona Halep (ROU) vs. Naomi Osaka (JPN) – This should be a really good match.  Halep has a rough section of the draw.
