Sony Ericsson/Miami Predictions 3-21-2012

Projected Winner in BOLD              C = Correct Pick X = Missed Pick

First Round

Nikolay Davydenko vs. James Blake – This is an interesting tilt between two former top ten players.  I think Davydenko is too steady and takes the ball too early to lose this match.  C

Antonio Veic vs. Denis Kudla – The young U.S. citizen wins and keeps climbing as a factor on the main tour.  X

Grigor Dimitrov vs. Mikhail Kukushkin – Talented Grigor wins.  C

David Nalbandian vs. Steve Darcis – Nalbandian is playing well, and I expect him to win this match.  C

Thomaz Bellucci vs. Frederico Gil – Based on Indian Wells I could see Bellucci have a nice group of results in 2012.  X

Pablo Andujar vs. Santiago Giraldo – Andujar had a great Indian Wells run and should win this match.  X

Ryan Sweeting vs. Lukas Lacko – I’d like to see Sweeting win, but I think Lacko has too much game.  C

Robin Haase vs. Marinko Matosevic -Matosevic has had a strong start to 2012, but all good things come to an end.  C

Nicolas Mahut vs. Fernando Gonzalez – I figure Gonzo will be inspired since this is his last ATP event.  Maybe Carlos Moya will get some competition on the senior circuit.  X

Michael Llodra vs. Lukas Rosol – The crowd reaction should be interesting.  C

Dudi Sela vs. Arnaud Clement – Clement is to be commended for still fighting on tour.  X

Tommy Haas vs. Guillaume Rufin – I think Haas wins as he still has some game.  C

Xavier Malisse vs. Edouard Roger-Vasselin – I can’t see the X-Man winning here.  X

Alejandro Falla vs. Denis Istomin – This is an excellent match-up.  It is close to a 50-50 pick, but I will go with Falla.  C

Andreas Seppi vs. Roberto Bautista-Agut – Seppi should advance.  X

Philipp Petzschner vs. Ivan Dodig – I like Petzschner’s game.  N/A due to an injury
