Morocco and Houston Tennis Predictions for 4-9-2012

Predicted Winner in BOLD

C = Correct, X = Incorrect

Here is a nice preview for the week’s events

Grand Prix Hassan II – Morocco

First Round

Igor Andreev vs. Albert Montanes – Neither player has made much noise on tour recently.  Andreev’s forehand is lethal, but he is slumping.  I pick Montanes to advance.  X – The first of many bad picks today.

Fabio Fognini (8) vs. Guillermo Garcia-Lopez – No prediction already in progress.

Donald Young (5) vs. Benoit Paire – I will go with Young despite some reservations.  X – Note To Self: Always listen to those inner reservations about a player.

U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championship – Houston

First Round

Bjorn Phau vs. Diego Junqueira – Phau maximizes his abilities despite being slight of stature.  C – I finally got one right.

Sam Querrey vs. Eric Prodon – Sam gets some much needed momentum by winning.  C – 3-0 in Houston, 02 in Morocco.  Hmmm

Carlos Berlocq (6) vs. James Blake – This is tough to call.  Blake has more weapons than Berlocq, but he has not played good tennis in over two years.  Berlocq is a fighter (see below), and I think that makes the difference.  Blake will spray some errors, and Berlocq will take advantage.  C – I was sweating when the other two picks came up negative.  Now I am 2-2 for the day with a Querrey win or loss deciding if I picked no better than a monkey throwing darts at names.
