Feliciano Lopez (3) vs. Paolo Lorenzi – I’ll take Lopez, but his ground game can be a liability.  C

Carlos Berlocq (6) vs. Bjorn Phau – Both have posted recent good wins.  Both players are over-achievers.  If Berlocq is healthy, I think he will win.  C – A one sided drubbing handed out by Berlocq.

First Round

Kevin Anderson (5) vs. Joao Souza – Anderson’s serve will work on clay in a match such as this.  C – Anderson is an interesting player and has posted decent results lately.

Alex Bogomolov Jr. (7) vs. Ryan Harrison – Harrison will advance and get some of the sting of his Davis Cup baptism of fire out of his system.  C – Closer than I would have expected, but Harrison advances.

Ivo Karlovic (8) vs. Bobby Reynolds – I am going to pick an upset here.  If Ivo serves huge (he will) and keeps his error count low, Ivo will win the match.  I just have not seen Karlovic playing as consistently as he did a few years ago.  Still, I will go with Ivo to advance.  X – I should have stuck with my first instinct.
