First Round

Fabio Fognini (14) vs. Radek Stepanek – This is a tough match to predict.  On clay, Fognini is favored.  Based on recent form, Fognini is favored.  On a hard court that plays faster than most, I am taking Radek.

Jerzy Janowicz (16) vs. James Blake – Jerzy FTW

Marcel Granollers vs. Lukas Rosol – I like Granollers’ game.

Nicolas Almagro (13) vs. Grigor Dimitrov – Dimitrov is my pick for pulling a minor upset.

Martin Klizan vs. Dmitry Tursunov – This is not Indianapolis 2007.

Mackenzie McDonald vs. David Goffin – Goffin hates alliteration.

Jeremy Chardy vs. Adrian Mannarino – Chardy needs to recapture his Melbourne form.

Juan Monaco vs. Jurgen Melzer – This match is a very tough call.  I think Monaco can use consistency to grind out a 3 set win.

Sam Querrey vs. Janko Tipsarevic – A college friend practiced next to Sam at UCLA’s courts last week.  That has to count for something.

Mardy Fish vs. Philipp Kohlschreiber – If Fish is in form, he can win this match.

Denis Istomin vs. Brian Baker – Istomin played well last week.
