Juan Martin del Potro (7) vs. John Isner – If their match in DC is a template, Isner had better hope the JMDP of sets 2 and 3 does not show up today.  Delpo returned from deep in the court to minimize aces from Isner.  Maybe Isner can adapt to that strategy by moving forward after his serve to take advantage of the court that JMDP is opening up by returning from deep in the court.  My guess is Isner’s transition game is not nuanced enough to force JMDP to change his returning strategy.  The Argentine in 2 close sets is my predictions.

Rafael Nadal (4) vs. Tomas Berdych (6) – Rafa’s current form is strong.  Berdych has been en fuego the past two rounds.  This has the potential of being a classic match.  The odds are in Rafa’s favor though so he is my pick.
