Semifinals

Serena Williams (1) vs. Na Li (5) – Williams is obviously the favorite based on her form in 2013.  Li is one of the few players who, if on her game, can push Serena outside of her comfort zone with both power and variety.  I’m hoping Na Li is playing well so that the fans are treated to a 3 set thriller.  I expect Serena to come through in 3 sets.

Victoria Azarenka (2) vs. Jelena Jankovic (14) – If this were a clay court match, I’d be inclined to take Jankovic.  Vika has not been at her top level as of late, but I think she is ready to pick up where the 2012 US Open final left off and challenge Serena in Ohio and in New York.  Vika in 3 is my prediction.
