Andy Murray made his return to the court yesterday, competing in his first match at the Mubadala World Tennis Championships since undergoing back surgery.
The British number one was beaten in his opening game against Jo Wilfred Tsonga losing 7-5, 6-3 but he finished off the tournament in 5th after beating Stanislas Wawrinka in the play off match 6-3, 6-4.
The results from this tournament mean little for the players since this is an exhibition event yet Murray was more pleased to be back playing after there was hint of doubt whether he would be competing at the Australian Open next month.
He was very pleased with his performance and believes his movement is getting better as he hopes to be fully prepared for the start of the new season in a few weeks time.
