Andy Murray’s Australian Open title challenge continues after a straight-sets win over world number 256, Vincent Millot, despite surviving a set point to the Frenchman in the third set.
While the 6-2 6-2 7-5 score appeared comprehensive, the British number one had to recover from 5-1 and 40-30 down in the third set, to face a match with Feliciano Lopez in round three.
22 consecutive points in the final set secured the win for Murray, outshining his opponent, who was playing in his first ever Grand Slam.
The match was littered with unforced errors from both players who seemed to be lacking in confidence with their respective games.
World number four, Murray, had only returned to playing tennis a couple of weeks previously due to back surgery in September last year, while the huge occasion may have influenced Millot’s accuracy.
