Federer and Anderson will be going head-to-head for the second time in their careers when they do battle in the quarterfinals of the BNP Paribas Open on Thursday night. Their only previous encounter came last fall in the second round of the Paris Masters, where Federer prevailed 6-4, 6-4. The 32-year-old Swiss rounded into form last fall and he has maintained the momentum in 2014. Federer is now 17-2 for the season following Indian Wells victories over Paul-Henri Mathieu, Dmitry Tursunov and Tommy Haas.
