Six months ago, Roger Federer looked a deflated man after his fourth round defeat at the US Open to Tommy Robredo. Questions were being raised whether it was time for the Swiss to put down his racquet and leave the court with his remarkable image intact and focus on his matters off it. Last night, Federer secured his place in the semi finals of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells after beating an in form Kevin Anderson in straight sets. It was a majestic display from the 32 year old who took the game 7-5, 6-1. Anderson was unable to serve his way past his opponent and his hands weren’t quick enough at the net to stop the Swiss taking the first set.
