Is this a good kit?
Every year at every major a lot of discussion on twitter and other platforms focuses on “kits” different top players wear from whatever company provides their clothing. Federer’s Wimbledon jackets, sweaters, shoes etc. got a lot of attention. I understand that one of the upsides for tennis is that (regardless of its ratings) players can be walking billboards for racquets, shoes, clothes, watches …
I have nothing against people who are drawn to this aspect of tennis. Most things that get people interested in tennis are a plus from my perspective. I will also say that tennis fashion is not my cup of tea. I know from playing and coaching that a player can go out and buy the equipment of a top player and look like a mirror image of a pro and still get beaten badly on the court. Beyond that, I will freely admit that l like Downton Abbey but die a little bit inside every time I hear about “the world of Ralph Lauren” in the sponsorship introduction to each US released episode.*

* – I also die a little bit each time the Keurig machine at work asks for a “portion packet” when I want coffee. I am a simple person when it comes to clothes and a cup of joe.
