Roland Garros 2014 – Day 5 Women’s Predictions

Sorry these are a little late

Predicted Winners in BOLD

Court Philippe Chatrier

[6] Jelena Jankovic (SRB) def  Kurumi Nara (JPN) 75 60 (Could JJ be a favorite now?  It is hard to think of the #6 player in the world and former #1 as making a big comeback, but in all honesty this is her best opportunity for a slam title)

[11] Ana Ivanovic (SRB) vs Elina Svitolina (UKR) – Could she win a second Roland Garros title? Yes.

Court Suzanne Lenglen

Alison Riske (USA) vs. Kristina Mladenovic (FRA) –  I like Riske’s game.

[5] Petra Kvitova (CZE) vs. Marina Erakovic (NZL) – The talent is there, but health has been an issue.  If Petra is healthy, she could reassert her future on the women’s game.

Court 1

[15] Sloane Stephens (USA) def Polona Hercog (SLO) 61 63 (Good for SS!)

[4] Simona Halep (ROU) vs Heather Watson (GBR) – I think Halep can make a run, but this could be a difficult match.

Court 2

[27] Svetlana Kuznetsova (RUS) def Camila Giorgi (ITA) 76 (5) 63 (Could Kuzy win a 3rd major? Sure.)

[10] Sara Errani (ITA) vs Dinah Pfizenmaier (GER) – Errani should advance.

Court 3

[26] Sorana Cirstea (ROU) vs Teliana Pereira (BRA)

Court 4

Maria-Teresa Torro-Flor (ESP) vs. Magdalena Rybarikova (SVK)

Court 5

[24] Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (RUS) vs [Q] Kiki Bertens (NED) – This is a nice opportunity to face a qualifier with the round of 32 on the line.

[22] Ekaterina Makarova (RUS) vs  Coco Vandeweghe (USA)

Court 6

Julia Glushko (ISR) def [21] Kirsten Flipkens (BEL) 64 36 64

[23] Lucie Safarova (CZE) vs. Casey Dellacqua (AUS)

Court 7 [28] Andrea Petkovic (GER) vs. Stefanie Voegele (SUI)

Court 17

Silvia Soler-Espinosa (ESP) def  Yanina Wickmayer (BEL) 62 64
