Predicted Winners in BOLD
Court Philippe Chatrier (11 a.m. start)
[12] Richard Gasquet (FRA) vs [24] Fernando Verdasco (ESP) 36 62 22 – TO FINISH I will stick with my original pick of Gasquet.
[4] Roger Federer (SUI) vs [18] Ernests Gulbis (LAT) – I can see this going either way. Gulbis has had some success vs. Federer and is in good form. I think Roger will advance, but I’d call this a 60-40 match.
[2] Novak Djokovic (SRB) vs [13] Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (FRA) – The draw did neither man any favors. Tsonga has looked very sharp in his first three matches. Djokovic won Rome and is one of the two most likely players to win the event. This could be Nole’s toughest test before the final if he gets through Tsonga.
Court Suzanne Lenglen
[6] Tomas Berdych (CZE) vs. [10] John Isner (USA) – Taller players seem to be able to handle some of the angles and kick that Isner can create. I keep picking against Isner, and he keeps winning. He should be happy with this pick.
[7] Andy Murray (GBR) vs [28] Philipp Kohlschreiber (GER) 36 63 63 46 77 – TO FINISH – I’ll stick with my original prediction. Boris Becker once said the 5th set is more about heart than tennis. I think this is true. Both men have put on an incredible show.
[8] Milos Raonic (CAN) vs Marcel Granollers (ESP) – I am taking Raonic as he seems to be making a leap forward. Coach Ljubicic should be proud. Granollers is capable of winning this match so this is by no means an easy advance. I think Milos has a 55% chance of advancing.
