Wimbledon 2014: Day 5 Gentlemen’s Singles Predictions

Predicted Winners in BOLD

Singles – Second Round – I will Stick with Yesterday’s Predictions on All of These even if Jerzy and Giraldo may Make me Wrong

[15] Jerzy Janowicz (POL) vs. Lleyton Hewitt (AUS) 75 44 – to finish

[19] Feliciano Lopez (ESP) vs. Ante Pavic (CRO)

[30] Marcel Granollers (ESP) vs. Santiago Giraldo (COL) 64 67(2) 61 16 21 – to finish

Singles – Third Round

[1] Novak Djokovic (SRB) vs. Giles Simon (FRA) – Simon finds ways to make his presence felt in matches and he’s unlikely to give much away for free.  Still, Novak is the strong favorite to win this match.

[3] Andy Murray (GBR) vs. [27] Roberto Bautista Agut (ESP) – Bautista-Agut is in the midst of a grass court winning streak after taking the Topshelf Open and 2 matches at Wimbledon.  Murray will likely end that streak in 3 sets.

[26] Marin Cilic (CRO) vs. [6] Tomas Berdych (CZE) – This could go either way, but I think Berdych is less likely to have a bad day.

[11] Grigor Dimitrov (BUL) vs. [21] Alexandr Dolgopolov (UKR) – This duel could impact the under 25 pecking order.  Dimitrov seems to be in a good place on grass at the moment.

Jimmy Wang (TPE) vs. [14] Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (FRA) – Good news for Wang – I picked him to lose again.  He likes proving me wrong.

[20] Kevin Anderson (RSA) vs. [16] Fabio Fognini (ITA) – On clay, I’d take Fognini, but on hard, grass or indoor, I think Anderson has the slight edge.

Leonardo Mayer (ARG) vs. Andrey Kuznetsov (RUS) – Two guys who pulled upsets and have to feel good about their game, but I will take Mayer.
