Rogers Cup Toronto 2014: Day 3 Predictions

Predicted Winners in BOLD

Rain has Meant there are a Lot of Matches to Predict

[WC] Nick Kyrgios (AUS) v [8] Andy Murray (GBR) H2H – I’d love to see Kyrgios win, but I think what is the best story and what is likely diverge here.

[1] Novak Djokovic (SRB)Gael Monfils (FRA) H2H – It should be fun, but Novak is 9-0 vs. La Monf.

[SE] Donald Young (USA) v [7] Grigor Dimitrov (BUL) H2H – Young is in good form so this could be a tricky match, but I think Grigor wins.

[6] Milos Raonic (CAN) v [WC] Jack Sock (USA) H2H – The Canadian Crusher is coming off of a title in DC where he beat Sock.

Yen-Hsun Lu (TPE) v [4] Tomas Berdych (CZE) H2H – The 4th seed does not seem like a threat to win the title.

Jeremy Chardy (FRA) v [13] Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (FRA) H2H

[12] Richard Gasquet (FRA)Ivo Karlovic (CRO) H2H – Dr. Ivo has been to 4 finals this year, but I think Gasquet will clip him.

[5] David Ferrer (ESP) v [Q] Michael Russell (USA) H2H – Ferrer is not going to give Russell any free points.  These two will grind it out, but Russell is the decided underdog.

Feliciano Lopez (ESP) v [Q] Tim Smyczek (USA) H2H – Flo is playing well.

Julien Benneteau (FRA) v [11] Ernests Gulbis (LAT) H2H – Gulbis could/should win, but he’s so erratic.

[17] Tommy Robredo (ESP) v Gilles Simon (FRA) OR Dominic Thiem (AUT) – ??? We’ll wait and see

Andreas Seppi (ITA) v Ivan Dodig (CRO) H2H

Kevin Anderson (RSA) v [16] Fabio Fognini (ITA) H2H – I think Mr Anderson takes this because A. he’s had a great 2014 and B. his mental toughness is greater than that of Fognini.

[15] Marin Cilic (CRO) v [LL] Malek Jaziri (TUN) H2H – Marin should win vs. the Lucky Loser.

I have to say this was really impressive. Anderson, Benneteau and Dodig especially.

I got a little lucky, but thank you. It was easily my best day of predicting matches since I picked Garcia Lopez over Wawrinka in the 1st round at Roland Garros. The next day I was 5-3 so I have to appreciate day 3 a lot!
