James McGee’s Reaction to Qualifying for the US Open

Jeff Salzenstein described the event as follows:

James McGee qualified into the US Open with a win over Ze Zhang, 6-4 in the third set. Check out this amazing match point and post match celebration.

McGee battled for over 2 hours and found a way to win despite losing the first set 6-0.

In this video, James hits an ace on match point and falls to the ground before getting back up to acknowledge the crowd.

Then watch as he goes back to his chair and continues to sob, overcome with emotion. HIs tears came from years of suffering, pain, and struggle to get to this moment and to finally prevail.

James was also struggling with cramps at the end and had to battle his opponent and himself to win that final point.

It was a miraculous effort and I was so proud to be there live to experience this moment.

We can learn a lot from James and how he has persevered to make it into his first US Open. Never stop going after your dreams.
