Serena Williams (1) vs. Varvara Lepchenko – Lepchenko is a lefty and is not a push-over, but if Serena is not too error prone she should advance in a straightforward match.

Carla Suarez Navarro (15) vs. Kaia Kanepi – Cobra-Kaia Kanepi pulls off an upset.  Having said that, I love Saurez Navarro’s game.

Casey Dellacqua (29) vs. Karolina Pliskova – The under the radar seed may not stay under the radar much longer.

Ekaterina Makarova (17) vs. Zarina Diyas

Petra Kvitova (3) vs. Aleksandra Krunic – Can Petra maintain a New York state of mind?

Flavia Pennetta (11) vs. Nicole Gibbs – Veteran power

Victoria Azarenka (16) vs. Elena Vesnina – MATCH OF THE DAY ALERT – Vika has won 2 slams on hard courts, has been runner-up at two slams on hard courts and is a former #1.  She is also not healthy or match tough.  Vesnina is a tricky player.  I think Vika wins, but monitoring her recovery is worth seeing.

Eugenie Bouchard (7) vs. Barbora Zahlavova Strycova (30) – Bouchard seems to be moving past her Wimbledon loss.
