And then there were 8! We are into the second week at the U.S. Open, and there are only 8 men’s singles players left. The usual big 3 (in Nadal’s absence) all made it through, but there are a few surprises among the final eight. Here’s a look at the exciting quarterfinal matches that await us.

[1]Novak Djokovic v [8]Andy Murray 

This is definitely my pick for the best quarterfinal match, should it live up to everyone’s expectations. Despite a disappointing run up to the U.S. Open, Djokovic is looking as crisp and fresh as ever! The Serbian has not lost a set en route to the QF’s, while Murray has looked sluggish and hampered by injury at times. If I hadn’t seen Murray’s straight sets defeat over Tsonga, I would pick Djokovic as the heavy favourite. Murray played a very solid match against Tsonga, and if he manages…
