[2] Maria Sharapova (RUS) vs [21] Shuai Peng (CHN) – I almost went the other way on this one.  If someone can make Sharapova move, she can beat Sharapova.  I don’t think Maria is pushed enough out of her comfort zone to lose this match.

[3] Simona Halep (ROU) vs Yanina Wickmayer (BEL) – I like Halep to go far in this event.

[10] Ekaterina Makarova (RUS) vs Julia Goerges (GER) – Goerges has been a reliable pick for me throughout, but Makarova is one of those engaging players who could make a mini-run with this draw.
