[4] Kei Nishikori (JPN) vs [22] John Isner (USA) H2H
I couldn’t help myself, but wow those special effects were bad even by Toho 1960s standards
The #1 players from the US and Japan will face-off in Miami. This match is pretty simple to analyze. If Nishikori can get into Isner’s service games, he will likely win easily. Nishikori takes the ball early and robs his opponent of time. A 6’10″/2.08 meter player will already struggle with precise footwork relative to the ATP field. Add in Nishikori robbing time and Isner could be in trouble. If Isner can hold serve easily, the big guy can take some cuts and try to break serve through blunt force blasts. If Isner holds easily, he can spring the upset. I think the truth of the match will be closer to Kei’s ideal situation than John’s. Kei will probably get one to good two looks at breaking serve per set. That should be enough.

My Prediction: Kei Nishikori d. John Isner 7-5, 6-3
