My Prediced Ladies’ Semifinalists

Top Half: Serena Williams vs. Lucie Safarova – I can’t see Sharapova’s movement holding up for 5 matches to set up the favored Q Rating semifinal.  Safarova’s lefty game should work well on grass, and she has momentum from Paris.  Barring illness Serena should advance to the final.

Bottom Half: Petra Kvitova vs. Angelique Kerber –  I am not confident in either of these picks, but based on the draw and current form I think Kerber can find the final four.  If Petra is healthy and in a good mental space, she should reach the final.  She could also lose in the first round.

Interesting First Round Match: Venus Williams vs. Madison Brengle – Venus is a 5-time Champion who played Kvitova tougher than anyone last year.  Still, Venus like Hewitt may be close to the end of her Wimbledon journey.
