Predicted Winners in BOLD
[2] Roger Federer (SUI) v Sam Groth (AUS) – Roger should win this match, but maybe Groth is motivated by revenge over his loss at last year’s US Open. I think Federer wins in 3 or perhaps 4 sets.
[3] Andy Murray (GBR) v [25] Andreas Seppi (ITA) – Seppi played well at Halle and could be tricky for awhile, but I think Murray will figure out what he needs to do to win and then execute.
[9] Marin Cilic (CRO) v [17] John Isner (USA) 6(4) 6-7(6) 6-4 6-7(4) 10-10 – to be completed – I will stick with my earlier prediction, but Isner has some experience in long 5th sets.
[WC] James Ward (GBR) v Vasek Pospisil (CAN) – Both men have a huge opportunity here. The crowd is a plus for Ward, but I think Vasek’s power game will ultimately prevail.
[6] Tomas Berdych (CZE) v Pablo Andujar (ESP) – The Big Czech will need to take control of points early, but his big serve and crisp returns should allow him to do just that.
[22] Viktor Troicki (SRB) v [Q] Dustin Brown (GER) – I think Brown can win this match. He does not strike me as a player prone to let downs.
[13] Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (FRA) v [23] Ivo Karlovic (CRO) – If Jo can make enough returns, he should win this match.
[20] Roberto Bautista Agut (ESP) v [Q] Nikoloz Basilashvili (GEO) – Bautista Agut will need to grind this out, but I think he should be able to do that.
