Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova both battled to 3 set victories, to set up a mouth-watering SF Showdown. Serena the 5-time Champion had to come back from losing the first set, to eventually grind past Victoria Azarenka, 6-3 in the 3rd. Maria Sharapova on the other hand, had to do the opposite, halting an inspired comeback from Grand Slam QF debutant: Coco Vandeweghe. Vandeweghe rallied to steal the 2nd in a tie-break, but Sharapova recovered to storm through the deciding set. Meanwhile in the delayed 4th rd match between Novak Djokovic and Kevin Anderson, the World No1 came back from 2 sets to love down to break the South African’s heart and reach his 7th successive Wimbledon QF.
