Wimbledon SF preview and pick: Djokovic vs. Gasquet

Novak Djokovic is two wins away from successfully defending his 2014 Wimbledon title. The next adversary standing in his way is Richard Gasquet, who is aiming for an upset on semifinal Friday. 

There will be no rematch of the recent French Open final, the 21st installment of what has become a scintillating rivalry between Novak Djokovic and Stan Wawrinka. Djokovic and Wawrinka appeared to be on course for a Wimbledon semifinal showdown, but Richard Gasquet stunned the Swiss 6-4, 4-6, 3-6, 6-4, 11-9 on Wednesday.

As such it will be Djokovic and Gasquet squaring off for the 13th time in their careers at the ATP level on Friday. The head-to-head series once stood at a modest 2-1 in Djokovic’s favor, but the Serb has won nine in a row at Gasquet’s expense and 11 of 12 overall.
