Gone are the days of the reputation of tennis players to be loud, boisterous and troublesome on and off court. A reputation which was used a lot to describe the rivalry between John McEnroe, Ivan Lendl and Jimmy Connors in the 80’s. If McEnroe wasn’t winning on court he would often be photographed with a magnum of Moet in one arm and a playboy bunny in the other falling out of a New York bar. It could be said that these world’s top players couldn’t get away with that these days. Due to fitness levels or being in the public spotlight, however the common perception is that the ‘big four’ of this era are just different characters.
