Riske is in action and can pull upsets, but will she? Read on
Flavia Pennetta (ITA) vs [WC] Gabriela Dabrowski (CAN) – The Canadian wild card draws a savvy veteran. Not ideal
[15] Sara Errani (ITA) vs Kristina Mladenovic (FRA) – If Mladenovic can attack Errani’s serve, an upset is possible.
Madison Brengle (USA) vs [WC] Carol Zhao (CAN) – Brengle’s momentum from World Team Tennis should help her here.

[14] Venus Williams (USA) vs Sabine Lisicki (GER) – This should be a good one, but I think Lisicki will have enough firepower to cross the finish line first.
[16] Andrea Petkovic (GER) vs [WC] Francoise Abanda (CAN) – These Canadian wild cards …
[9] Carla Suárez Navarro (ESP) vs Alizé Cornet (FRA) – This is a great match to keep an eye on if one has tickets.
[12] Timea Bacsinszky (SUI) vs Alison Riske (USA) – Riske played well last week and has sprung a number of upsets on tour over the past few years. Still, I think the Swiss advances.
[Q] Heather Watson (GBR) vs [Q] Irina Falconi (USA) – Qualifier city, but if Watson is healthy she should advance.
[Q] Monica Puig (PUR) vs [Q] Mariana Duque-Mariño (COL) – I like Puig’s game so I could be biased here.
Alison Van Uytvanck (BEL) vs [Q] Polona Hercog (SLO)
[Q] Yanina Wickmayer (BEL) vs [Q] Lesia Tsurenko (UKR) – Two qualifiers facing off, but Wickmayer has more experience so I am leaning toward her winning.
Coco Vandeweghe (USA) vs [Q] Carina Witthoeft (GER) – Coco can build upon her solid play at Wimbledon.
