Petra Cetkovska (CZE) vs. Caroline Wozniacki (DEN) [4] – So long as Wozniacki is not worried about defending points, I think she advances in straight sets.

Evgeniya Rodina (RUS) vs. Samantha Stosur (AUS) [22] – Can Stosur enjoy a NY renaissance?

Petra Kvitova (CZE) [5] vs. Nicole Gibbs (USA) – If Petra handles the elements, she wins this match.
