Vika put on an instant classic vs. Kerber

Varvara Lepchenko (USA) vs. Victoria Azarenka (BLR) [20] – Vika seems to be on a mission to challenge Serena once again at a major.  I think Lepchenko is a talent who is capable of winning this match, but Vika is a distinct favorite to advance.

Samantha Stosur (AUS) [22] vs. Flavia Pennetta (ITA) [26] – Sam has had a great run at this US Open, but Flavia has never lost to Stosur in six matches.  The head-to-head has me leaning toward the Italian veteran.

Petra Kvitova (CZE) [5] vs. Johanna Konta (GBR) – I like Petra here so long as the elements do not get to her.  Kvitova is one of the few players who has enough offense to turn virtually any player into a defensive player if things are rolling for the Czech.

Sabine Lisicki (GER) [24] vs. Simona Halep (ROU) [2] – Lisicki could overpower Halep.  To do this, Sabine will need to serve big and take some cuts when returning Halep’s serve.  I just think that over two or even 3 sets Halep’s consistency will be the difference.
