A first look at the men’s final – my thoughts will be up soon

Murray and Djokovic have been superior in both their serving and returning/receiving. That is why they definitely deserved their spots in the final, as well as their top 2 rankings. Djokovic won an average 71% of his serve points in the first six matches leading to the final, while Murray won 70%. Not much to separate.
Note that they both commit high unforced errors when their serve points won are low, or in other words, they are more likely to commit unforced errors when they face good returners. So unforced errors aren’t exactly ‘unforced’ then. They had to ‘paint the lines’ or make low net clearance or create impossible angles to win points against good returners.

And they’ll be facing the best returners in the world in themselves. Djokovic won an average 42% of his receiving points for the six matches leading to the final, while Murray 43%. Again…
