[1] Serena Williams (USA) vs. Yulia Putintseva (KAZ) –  I am not saying this match is a foregone conclusion, but Serena likely would have accepted facing an unseeded player in the quarterfinal if offered that deal prior to the event.  I like Serena to win 6-3, 6-2.

[8] Timea Bacsinszky (SUI) vs. Kiki Bertens (NED) – Bertens is on one hellacious winning streak.  Still, Bacsinszky to my mind is a heavy favorite here.  I like the Swiss to win 6-4, 6-2.
