Predicted Winners in BOLD

C = Correct X = Incorrect

Gael Monfils (14) vs. Sergei Bubka – Bubka could win, but it is likely that Monfils will win.  C

Juan Martin del Potro (11) vs. Ivo Karlovic – I am not sure how a short player like JMDP will deal with Dr. Ivo, but I have a hunch that Delpo wins.  C

Novak Djokovic (1) vs. Marcos Baghdatis – Baghdatis could win one set but he won’t win two.  Nole advances by winning an entertaining match.  C

Juan Monaco (21) vs. Yen-Hsun Lu -Monaco is steady enough and fit enough to do damage on any slow or medium paced court.  C

Nicolas Almagro (12) vs. David Goffin – I am a huge Almagro fan so take that into account as I pick him to advance.  C

Fernando Verdasco (20) vs. Bjorn Phau – Phau surprised me to win in the first round, but I just cannot see him having enough weapons to win again.  C

Viktor Troicki (27) vs. Guillermo Garcia-Lopez – My first upset pick of the day.  I think Garcia-Lopez  X

Julien Benneteau (30) vs. Benjamin Becker  C

Marin Cilic (23) vs. Igor Kunitsyn – Marin where did USO 2009 and Australian Open 2010 go?  X

Mardy Fish (8) vs. Frank Dancevic – Fish is in a bit of a free fall, and Frank Dancevic is on a bit of a roll.  Still, Fish should win.  C

Kevin Anderson (28) vs. Sam Querrey – Anderson is playing well as of late, but I think the Gilbert effect helps Sam Q. advance.  X

Feliciano Lopez (15) vs. Albert Ramos – I am going to pull the trigger on the upset because the courts are playing slowly as far as I can tell.  C

David Ferrer (5) vs. Bernard Tomic – Tomic is very capable of winning the match, but Ferrer is so steady it would be foolhardy for me to pick against him.  C

Richard Gasquet (17) vs. Cedrik-Marcel Stebe – I love Gasquet’s stroke production, but I have a hard time seeing him live up to expectations.  X

Andy Roddick (31) vs. Gilles Muller – Andy has enough left to beat a game Muller.  C

Roger Federer (3) vs. Ryan Harrison – This could go three sets, but Harrison’s meltdown in the third set versus Gilles Simon makes me think Roger has enough guile to win if it is close and enough weapons to win in straight sets as well.  C

Daily Total: Correct – 12, Incorrect – 4

Tournament Total: Correct – 45, Incorrect – 20

  1. Mike Swanquis says:

Even if Gasquet did eventually pull out the match, good call on Stebe (he of one main draw ATP match this year) nearly knocking off the Frenchman. What a headcase Little Richard is…but what a backhand!
