This is just as difficult to answer as the GOAT question. I think the fact that Federer has to deal with and actually usually prevails against guys who mostly play with two hands and smack the crap out of the ball gives him a huge edge over pretty much everyone else on this list.
Yeah, at one time Lendl, Becker, Edberg are the top 3 players and all have one handed backhands. Sampras, Stich, Rafter, Krajicek, etc. Now Federer is probably the last great champion for some time to come with a one-handed backhand. Something in today’s game is favoring two handed backhands and he is still in the top 5 so his must be pretty good.
Guga had the best one-hander for clay.
