Indian Wells Picks for 3-12-2012

Projected Winners in BOLD

Pablo Andujar vs. Albert Ramos -This is close to a 50-50 match in my mind.

Mardy Fish (8) vs. Matthew Ebden – Fish should advance.

Nicolas Almagro (12) vs. Santiago Giraldo – I think Almagro will have a big 2012.

Guillermo Garcia-Lopez vs. Ryan Harrison – A letdown after beating the world #4?

Novak Djokovic (1) vs. Kevin Anderson (29) – Nole being the best return man alive puts Anderson in a tough spot.

Tomas Berdych (7) vs. Andy Roddick (30) – I think Roddick advances.  Berdych has played well and Andy has struggled as of late, but I think Berdych has never consistently shown a lot of fight in his career.

John Isner (11) vs. Juan Monaco (22) – If Monaco can limit the number of easy points Isner gets, Monaco will win.  I think Isner coasts enough on serve to win a tight match.

Gilles Simon (13) vs. Stanislas Wawrinka (23) – This is a great match on paper.  I think Simon is consistent enough that he wins this match, but Wawrinka has the tools to win as well.

Dan- I think you’re taking a risk picking Roddick over Berdych. I do hope that Roddick wins. I also hope you haven’t made any private bets on this match. You sure are leaving out the women. Christina McHale’s win over Petra Kvitova deserves a mention. That is the biggest upset so far. Who knows? It may be end up being the biggest upset of the tournament?

      Jeanius,

I agree McHale’s win is huge. I just am not familiar enough with enough WTA players to make picks with any confidence. I will make sure to catch up. As for Roddick, I kind of figure he is due & will have a favorable home crowd, but based solely on recent form Berdych should win.
