I talked tennis with a Louisville Legend on Tuesday, June 11, 2024. The whole show is worth a listen. Tennis and I are on with Jerry Eaves from 14:55-24:10. Give Jerry Eaves a follow on the platform formerly known as Twitter: @JerryEaves5 Jerry Eaves grew up in Louisville and played basketball for the great Denny…

Roland Garros 2024: All Hail Queen Iga IV and King Carlos I
History Made by Both Champions Iga Swiatek won her 5th major title, capped off a great clay court season*, demonstrated why she is ranked #1, and won her 4th French Open title in 5 years by claiming the title in pretty routine fashion during the final 5 rounds of the tournament. Her 2nd round win…
Roland Garros 2024: Roddick on Rafa
This video gives a lot of insight into what facing Rafael Nadal is like and how Rafa developed his game over the years. The 3-minute point in the video begins a multiple-minute discussion of what trading groundstrokes with Rafa feels like if you wish to skip ahead. I want to add that Novak Djokovic having…
French Open 2023: June 6th Predictions
Predicted Winners in BOLD Karolina Muchova vs Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova My thoughts: Muchova has been playing much better over the past 52 weeks resulting in a huge difference in their computer rankings. They are in the same place in the draw, but I have to believe the ranking system has enough validity to predict Muchova advancing. …
22 Parting Shots from the 2023 Australian Open
Why 22? Well … Novak Djokovic is in firm control of the ATP Tour after ending 2022 and starting 2023 with big wins. Aryna Sabalenka rebuilt her serve and conquered mental hurdles en route to winning this event. The pain of her 2022 US Open semifinal loss seems like a distant memory. Elena Rybakina is…
Wimbledon 2022: Djokovic vs. Kyrgios Championship Prediction
Novak Djokovic vs. Nick Kyrgios I am going to keep this short. Kyrgios does have a head-to-head advantage. 2017 was not Novak’s best year in terms of health, confidence, or results. So the two head-to-head matches probably don’t mean too much in 2022. Kyrgios knows he can win. That is the extent of what their…
DDP Yoga for Tennis – Week 1 Review
Given Novak Djokovic’s focus on flexibility, I can see tennis moving toward a greater emphasis on something like DDP Yoga in training. Dominant champions always leave some sort of mark on how the sport is taught. I think this makes today’s review noteworthy. I completed 7 straight days of doing at least one DDP Yoga…
Grand Slam Achievements in Tennis since Graf’s Calendar Slam in 1988
I will try to just recall major moments involving all 4 majors in tennis since Steffi Graf completed the Calendar Slam in 1988. This win represented a Career Grand Slam for Steffi Graf as well. 1. Steffi Graf follows the Calendar Slam with a Gold Medal in Singles (Bronze in Doubles as well) at the…
Predicting the 2021 US Open Men’s Semifinalists
BONUS – First Round Matches of Note Andy Murray vs. Stefanos Tsitsipas – If this were later in the event, even the 2nd round, I would lean heavily toward Tsitsipas. I think Stefanos advances, but playing the 2012 champion and 2008 runner-up in the first round is a nightmare first round draw. Murray has also…
