Funny. I think Cash has a point that tennis is being played as a variation on a theme at the moment. Rafa is different from Nole. I do think Murray and Nole are pretty similar. Each does a lot of the same things well (Nole better at what they have in common, but Murray has a bit more touch and variety). However, in 2002 everyone lamented the baseline battle between Hewitt and Nalbandian and then Federer won Wimbledon from 2003-2007 & again in 2009 and 2013. At the USO, Stan Wawrinka was close to being a finalist and he plays differently from Nole, Murray or Nadal. Jerzy has his huge serving (second serves as big as a lot of guys’ first serves) as well as hitting a ton of drop shots. I think some sort of variety will emerge, but at the moment the top 3 and the men who have won 14 of the last 16 slams have a lot in common.
One of those rare occasions that Pat Cash makes sense! Cherish it. It is rarer than Haley’s comet
