Bercy 2013 Semifinal Predictions: Djokovic v. Federer & Nadal v. Ferrer

The Masters 1000 event in Paris is always good, but having all 8 World Tour Finals participants in the quarterfinal round was something.  Here are my picks:

2 Novak Djokovic vs. 5 Roger Federer

Federer has played well to get to this point.  Beating Kevin Anderson, Phillipp Kohlschreiber and Juan Martin del Potro in succession after a runner-up finish in Basel has Federer in better form than most of 2013.  Roger is also at his best on faster surfaces.  Having said all of that Nole has to be the pick.  He won Beijing and Shanghai. He is rested.  He can enter 2014 with a boatload of momentum.  My pick Novak Djokovic d. Roger Federer 7-5, 6-3

1 Rafael Nadal vs. 3 David Ferrer

Rafa seems ripe for an upset.  He skipped Basel with concerns over exhaustion.  He has not really blown anyone out in his victories.  He has complained about indoor tennis.  If Berdych had won the quarter, I’d be tempted to pick him to win, but Ferrer lacks the weapons needed to beat Rafa unless Nadal is physically struggling.  That is a possibility.  My pick Rafael Nadal d. David Ferrer 6-3, 6-2

That leaves another chapter (the 6th installment this year) of Rafa vs. Nole (is my picks hold up).
