Davis Cup 2014: First Round

• France and Germany set up a big second round match.  The winner should be favored to reach the final.
• Switzerland with two top 10 players should be favored to reach the final from the bottom half of the draw.
• The UK team will rise and fall with Andy Murray, but I would not put a Boris Becker style tie in which Murray has a hand in winning all 3 points past the UK.  However, Italy will likely select a slow clay court and try to win all 3 non-Murray points.
• The Czech Republic will also be a hard out as they have held the trophy and do not want to let it go.
