BerdychRoger Federer is one win away from a potential Dubai semifinal showdown against Novak Djokovic, with Lukas Rosol standing in the Swiss’ way on Thursday. Tomas Berdych and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, meanwhile, are set for a blockbuster quarterfinal.

Federer and Rosol will be going head-to-head for the first time in their careers when they collide in the quarterfinals of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships on Thursday. Rosol hopes this will transpire similarly to his first-ever meeting with Rafael Nadal, whom the Czech memorably defeated 6-7(9), 6-4, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 in the 2012 Wimbledon second round. The world No. 49 has since captured his first ATP title (Bucharest in 2013), but other than that it has been a major struggle. Rosol was a horrendous 1-6 this season heading into Dubai, but he has advanced with straight-set wins over Daniel Brands and Dmitry Tursunov.
