- Angelique Kerber managed to avoid a lot of near losses while grabbing the title in South Carolina. After trailing 1-4 in the final set, Kerber rallied to take the title 6-2, 4-6, 7-5.
- Sam Querrey’s runner-up finish in Houston is a good sign for his form as well.
- Madison Keys fought back nicely today, but perhaps felt a few nerves late in the 3rd set. With experience, Keys will likely learn to finish matches like these with wins more and more often.
