French Open 2015: May 30th Men’s Predictions

Predicted Winners in BOLD

[1] Novak Djokovic (SRB) vs. Thanasi Kokkinakis (AUS) – So long as Nole’s movement is solid, he should win in an entertaining match.  How much energy will Thanasi have left?

This was a great match

[15] Kevin Anderson (RSA) vs [20] Richard Gasquet (FRA) – Anderson should be quite happy to post one of his best results of 2015.  I think Gasquet wins so long as he finds a way to get into some of Anderson’s service games.

Rivalry?

[13] Andy Murray (GBR) vs [29] Nick Kyrgios (AUS) – This is the match everyone wants to see.  We know Kyrgios can win big matches.  Murray is playing the best clay court tennis of his life.  Therefore, this could be quite good.  However, I think Murray’s form may be at a level that the anticipation of this match will be higher than the entertainment value of this match.  Murray will play well enough to win in 3 or 4 sets in my point of view.

[6] Rafael Nadal (ESP) vs Andrey Kuznetsov (RUS) – Rafa and Nole will keep marching toward one another.  I think Kuznetsov could make a dent in Rafa’s game, but he will not win 2 or 3 sets.

[17] David Goffin (BEL) vs. Jérémy Chardy (FRA) – Chardy picked up a big win.  Goffin poses a different threat to Chardy.  Goffin plays a bit like Davydenko or nothing like John Isner.  Chardy would have to serve huge and control rallies with his power, but I think Goffin will get enough traction in the match to break down Chardy’s backhand and overall game.

[7] David Ferrer (ESP) vs Simone Bolelli (ITA) – This should be fun, but in 3 out of 5 sets I think Ferrer wins.

Jack Sock (USA) vs. Borna Coric (CRO) – Sock is starting to figure a lot of things out.  I think Coric is a major talent, but Sock likely benefits from not facing a veteran in this spot.  Expect some big forehands from both men …

[9] Marin Cilic (CRO) vs [23] Leonardo Mayer (ARG) – Cilic has found his form and confidence in Paris, but I think he is not at the level he needs to be to go much further.  Mayer, on the other hand, is a tough competitor.
