ATP Halle 2015: Preview and Predictions

FedererRoger Federer once again returns to Halle to begin his 2015 grass court preparations. Federer has racked up three consecutive appearances in the final in Halle and is unbeaten at this tournament since 2012, beating Mikhail Youzhny in the 2013 final (6-7 6-3 6-4) and Alejandro Falla in the 2014 final (7-6 7-6). Federer opens against Philipp Kohlschreiber. Federer leads the head-to-head against Kohlschreiber, 8-0 but as first round matches go, this is a tough opener. Kohlschreiber is a former Wimbledon quarter-finalist and reached the quarters of Stuttgart this week.

Federer’s quarter has its pitfalls;  in the second round he will play Sergiy Stakhovsky or Ernests Gulbis. If it’s a rematch with Stakhovsky, it will be one of those rare occasions where i’ll be 100% rooting for Fed. Stakhovsky winning again would be unbearable for his ego.
