Nadal and Verdasco will be squaring off for the 16th time in their careers at the ATP level when they clash in round one of the bet-at-home Open on Tuesday. The head-to-head series stands at 13-2 in favor of Nadal, but that hardly tells the current story. They have faced each other only once since 2012 and Verdasco has won two in a row at the expense of his fellow Spaniard. Verdasco prevailed 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 on the blue clay of Madrid in 2012 and most recently took advantage of a slumping opponent by winning 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 earlier this season at the Miami Masters.
