Predicted Winners in BOLD
Nick Kyrgios (AUS) vs. Fernando Verdasco (ESP) – This match is really interesting to me. Each man has what I call a live arm and can blast big shots from many positions on the court. I think Kyrgios’ serve gives him a slight edge.
[1] Novak Djokovic (SRB) vs. Thomaz Bellucci (BRA) – Nole should win.
[8] Milos Raonic (CAN) vs. Ivo Karlovic (CRO) – Expect a lot of service breaks
[2] Andy Murray (GBR) vs. Tommy Robredo (ESP) – This should be a fun match, but Murray is at a different level.
[14] Grigor Dimitrov (BUL) vs. [Q] Alexandr Dolgopolov (UKR) – The future of tennis?
[11] Richard Gasquet (FRA) vs. Jeremy Chardy (FRA) – The battle for France?
[WC] Vasek Pospisil (CAN) vs. [Q] Yen-Hsun Lu (TPE) – Pospisil can build upon his Wimbledon form.
Dominic Thiem (AUT) vs. [Q] Ernests Gulbis (LAT) – If Thiem’s legs are not gone from 3 solid weeks of tennis on clay and a flight from Europe to Canada, I like him to win. If he is tired, Gulbis has a great shot at pulling an upset.
Jack Sock (USA) vs. Adrian Mannarino (FRA) – Sock was my pick to make a lot of noise in Newport, Atlanta, and Washington, DC. That has not happened, but he could make noise in Montreal.
Pablo Andujar (ESP) vs. [WC] Frank Dancevic (CAN) – I love that Frank is still playing on tour, but I don’t see him winning here.
[13] David Goffin (BEL) vs. Steve Johnson (USA) – Match of the Day in my mind
Roberto Bautista Agut (ESP) vs. [PR] Janko Tipsarevic (SRB) – Janko is back, but is he ready?
[16] John Isner (USA) vs. Benjamin Becker (GER) – Isner won Atlanta and was runner-up in DC. I think he will win this match, but Becker is never an easy out for a guy that relies on his serve as both men are likely to hold a lot.
Viktor Troicki (SRB) vs. [Q] Mikhail Youzhny (RUS) – Nostalgia pick?
[12] Kevin Anderson (RSA) vs. Lukas Rosol (CZE) – Will Mr. Anderson hate Rosol?
