We’re Getting Closer to Winning Time w/ a Great Slate of Matches

[23] Venus Williams (USA) vs [Q] Anett Kontaveit (EST) – Venus is 2 sets and one qualifier away from having a shot at stopping one of her sister’s drives toward history.  I think Venus holds up her end and reaches the quarterfinal round.

[1] Serena Williams (USA) vs [19] Madison Keys (USA) – Serena will need to play better than she did in her two previous matches.  I think she knows this as well.  Keys play at the Australian Open and Wimbledon this year demonstrate that she could pull the upset.  I think Serena will play a clean match and win in two sets with one set being fairly close.

[13] Ekaterina Makarova (RUS) vs Kristina Mladenovic (FRA) – This should be another great match.  I think Makarova has to feel good given the chance she has to possibly reach the senfinal round.

[25] Eugenie Bouchard (CAN) vs Roberta Vinci (ITA) – Is Genie’s head okay?  If not, she will likely lose.  If she is on her game, I can see Bouchard overcome Vinci’s variety with baseline power.
