Get Used to Seeing this on the Practice Courts
Like many people who follow tennis, I was not expecting the departure of Stefan Edberg or the addition of Ivan Ljubicic to Team Federer. The news coming out indicates that Edberg was only likely to work with Federer in 2014, but that this agreement was extended by one year. Ljubicic did good work with Milos Raonic. With Edberg leaving, Ivan Ljubicic seems like a good addition. Federer likely wants to input of someone who played on tour. Ljubicic never had the successes that Edberg had, but he is familiar with many player’s games having played against some and having coached Raonic against younger players on tour. Ljubicic also reached a career high ranking of #3 in the world, was part of a winning Davis Cup team, and won a bronze medal in doubles. Brad Gilbert posted similar numbers on tour to those of Ljubicic and had a stellar coaching career.
