Miami Open 2016: March 31st ATP Quarterfinal Predictions

Predicted Winners in BOLD

Kei Nishikori (JPN) vs. [16] Gael Monfils (FRA) H2H – This is a fascinating match-up that I can’t quite predict.  Gael is willing to cede court positioning and that should benefit Kei.  However, Gael has played quite well in Miami and has the bigger serve so he could dictate the outcome of the match.  I think if Kei returns well, and he usually does, his game should hold up versus Gael’s, but if Gael is playing at a high level, as he has in Miami, all bets are off.

[12] Milos Raonic (CAN) vs. [24] Nick Kyrgios (AUS) H2H  These two have split meaningful matches against one another at Wimbledon over the past two years.   Milos to me is the more tactically disciplined and mature player, but Nick has more varied firepower.  Nick doesn’t have to follow certain patterns to win points as he can hit winners from most spots on the court.  Both players serve quite well.  I think in the end Milos’ steady approach will be victorious, but I expect this match to go 3 sets.
