Albert Ramos-Vinolas vs. Fernando Verdasco

This is an interesting match-up as both Spaniards are left-handed.  Everyone on tour is used to playing right-handed players.  This creates a comparative advantage for left-handed players except when they play other left-handed players.  Ramos-Vinolas had a great run in Paris and just beat one of the better Spanish players of all-time in David Ferrer.  Verdasco is one of the most streaky players in recent memory.  His groundstrokes can be paralyzing due to power, or he can go off the rails.  So who wins?

What to Expect – Verdasco will likely dictate play while Ramos-Vinolas will be counter-punching more often than not.  A lot of this match will come down to Verdasco’s error total.   Stan Wawrinka beat Ramos-Vinolas at Geneva and Roland Garros.  That makes me think power can hamper Ramos-Vinolas’ game.
