Washington, DC 2016: July 20th ATP Predictions

Predicted Winners in BOLD

Alexander Zverev VS Taylor Fritz – Future Shock? Zverev seems a bit further along, but Fritz might be boosted by the DC fans.

Yen-Hsun Lu VS (2) Gael Monfils – Monfils holds a 2-0 head-to-head lead, but they have not met since January 2013.  I think Lu pulls the upset if solely because Monfils has been erratic since mid May.

(1) John Isner VS (Q) James Duckworth – I expect at least one tie-break set and a win for Isner.

(3) Bernard Tomic VS Donald Young – How does one predict this match?

Malek Jaziri VS (9) Kevin Anderson – Anderson has had a rough 2016, but this surface should be favorable for changing his fortunes.

Lukas Lacko VS (6) Jack Sock – How well can Sock bounce back from losing the 5th match in last week’s Davis Cup tie?

John Millman VS (15) Marcos Baghdatis – Baghdatis has quietly put together a very nice 2016 campaign.

Viktor Troicki VS (Q) Ryan Harrison – I will probably regret this pick, but why not?

(PR) Brian Baker VS (13) Ivo Karlovic – Baker won his first round match 7-6, 7-6, but I think he will lose due to Ivo’s momentum coming out of Rhode Island.

I think Sock and Coric will both be impacted by their recent Davis Cup clash

(16) Borna Coric VS Yuichi Sugita – I think Coric wins and rides a wave of good feelings off of his Davis Cup win.

(14) Gilles Muller VS Yoshihito Nishioka – Muller had two near misses on grass with 2 runner-up finishes giving him 360 ranking points.
