Predicted Winners in BOLD

This was excellent 

[2] Angelique Kerber (GER) vs  [5] Simona Halep (ROU)  – While I would never say these two players play the same way, they both share great mobility and tenacity on court. Halep leads their head-to-head series 3-2 including a 3 set win last year in Toronto.  Kerber’s 2 wins have come in 2016 including a close 2 set battle at Wimbledon.  Halep needs this win more given Kerber’s Australian Open title and Wimbledon runner-up finish.  Still, I think if Kerber’s serve doesn’t buckle too much she wins in an entertaining battle.

[10] Madison Keys (USA) vs [Q] Kristina Kucova (SVK) – Kucova battled through qualifying rounds and a number of come from behind wins in Montreal.  She very well could upset Keys.  However, I think even a great story like this comes to an end.  Keys is having an excellent 2016 and she will likely add to that with a win in this match.
